Well, I got an email from Gleim yesterday with my password and login information. I can now begin the journey to becoming an Enrolled Agent.
I am both excited and a bit nervous. I am very excited for the opportunity to work as an Enrolled Agent, but nervous about devoting the time to study and achieve the kind of results I would like. With kids in sports, summer vacations, and yard work, I really need to be devoted and get this done!
I have not received the material in the mail yet. So, looking at my schedule for the summer and my goals for next tax season, I am going to attempt to take all three parts of the exam pretty soon. My goal is to pass the exam before E-filing opens up in January 2013. I hope that is not an overly ambitious expectation.
Although I have about 8 years of experience with Idaho state income tax and have done a considerable amount of training and teaching federal tax law to Tax Commission employees, most of my experience is in Individual Income Tax, not Business Tax. I am pretty confident I can pass the Individual section quickly, but the Business section is going to take some considerable dedication and study. I look forward to exploring the resources provided by Gleim. I had previously purchased the CMA series several years ago, but decided not to pursue that credential. I really enjoyed the audio resources and hope that the EA package is similar. I found that it was a great way to stay immersed in the material several extra hours a day. I do promise however, that the other folks in the car will not find it as exciting as we do!
I will post again next week when I receive my materials in the mail and start to develop my study plan. Good luck and happy studying!
