I am less than a week away from taking the first portion of the CPA exam. I have been through the Gleim CPA Review book two times. Now I am studying and testing with the CPA Test Prep software, which has tons of questions that can be randomized to simulate the way the questions will appear on the CPA exam. I have been using study mode mostly, but sometimes I use test mode. The difference is that in study mode I see the answers immediately. and in test mode I have to wait until I finish the test before I see which questions I missed. Reading the explanations to the answers is really helping me learn the material even more. There is a lot of information provided to you after you take the test or use study mode. It gives you scores and pinpoints the areas that you are getting right and the areas that you are missing.

I absolutely recommend that you view the questions in random order and keep the number of questions at 20. With that number of questions, I don’t feel overwhelmed and it keeps my attention. I am studying between four and eight hours each day this week to prepare me for the exam. I hope that it is enough for me to learn what I need to pass the exam. I do not want to have to take it again, but I will if I have to. Knowing that around half the people who take the exam will fail it on the first try is not comforting. Oh well, if it were easy, everyone would take it and the CPA designation would not be that important. Time to get back to studying now.
